He's walking
He's walking slowing
He's walking very slowly
He's walking very, very slowly
down the stairs
in the dark

He's slowly walking
He's walking slowly
one step at a time
Very, very slowly
slowly, slowly
Darker,and darker
as he goes

Deeper,deeper, down
To the basement
Maybe he'll trip and fall
it being dark and all
But what the hell,
He can't see anyway

Down he goes, to the basement
Now I can't even see him any more
Don't he know it's dark down there?
why does he go down there?
What does he do down there?
in that cold dark place

I'm not so sure he even knows
Why he goes;
down there

What is it that pulls him down?
step by step by step
slowly in the dark

Maybe if I had a brother
He could help us out
Help me drag him back upstairs
upstairs to where it's light

But what's the use?
he'd just go back
even if we brought him up
maybe he just likes it there
Down there in the dark

oh sweetie...your Dad is in the dark in his mind, okay?

Being a caregiver for someone suffering the ravages of Alzheimer's is truly one of life's most heartbreaking trials to endure.

Please try to keep in mind that he's not doing this stuff at you, okay?

You know where I live. Why don't you schedule yourself a break and come see me more often? (Besides, you still have my book, yanno. *glare*<--just teasing ya, dawlin' but I really WOULD like it back.) And make sure Leah has an outing too. Both of you are welcome, and if the ogre has anything to say about it, I'll just tell him to stick it um, down there in the dark.

Call me when you can. You two need a break. Give Leah my love, too.

He may feel more comfortable in his 'dark' space, where he sets the limits as he chooses.
Hold his hand however you can, and remember the days when things were better for him. Peace to you, and Leah. And a visit with Lady Serenity sounds like a great idea!

Someone told me that laughter is the best
medicine. My wackey antics keep him chuckling. I can't cure him so I at least try to make him feel a little better,
'cause we don't actualy have a basement.

Leah sez hello
