Just For The Sake Of Wonder

Do you suffer my absence
as I do yours?
It hits me sometimes
at the slamming of doors
in quiet rooms I frequent
soft carpeted floors
high walls with windows
overlooking corner stores.

Every now and then
I wonder, just for the sake
of wonder itself, if
at times, you break
down and let me in
to cause you to shake,
and if you still believe
good memories are hard to make.
