I am from a union of lack luster
Born to bangle and dangle bright.
A token thrown, a wheel spun
Just a prize to be won at night.

I am an oak tree standing tall
Roots spreading to hold me tight.
Some would have lost their sanity
While I wrote poetry at night.

It didn't matter if it rhymed,
I'd write words held inside of me.
It made me cope, made me strong
It formed the person I would be.

Well I will tell you now for sure
I'm so proud of my tough bark.
What didn't kill me, made me strong,
I'm no longer afraid of the dark.

I am a just a flower grown from seed
A beautiful flower, and not a weed.

Yours is the story everyone wants to read,
Mysteria (love that name) The story is sad but hopeful and uplifting. Well written. You
have every right to love who you've become.

You are indeed a beautiful flower.  Your simple earthly manner grows, releasing  captivating aromas as it unfolds.

I am glad you are from these blue pages.

Sharon, great rhythm and rhyme. Your poetry seed came up as one great poetry vision.
Kudos! Maggie ((~.~))

Thanks for nice comments on this one, as it was a tad on the dark side, but still a side of life that exists for many.

I love it when you pen the darker writes Sharon. Loved this.

If one were to look inside that tough bark ... they would see the "growth rings" of experience and wisdom gained through life's tragedies and triumphs - all circled protectively around that beautiful heartwood core.

Best wishes and hugs,
/Kit

Sharon...I have a feeling that your sense of self-worth is not only a flower in bloom, but also a sense of humor that lights the room.

Ron said something once when I met him back east that went like this, "If you read between the lines you learn a lot about the writer."  Well, something close to that anyway   and he was right!  I started reading poetry differently when I got back home and learned a lot about all of you.

I sit here this morning and read these replies and want you all to realize that coming to this place, created bonds and friendships that could easily last a lifetime.  We (in here,) probably know more about each other than anyone knows about us outside these halls of blue.  It is true in my case anyway.

Thank you all, and I mean thank you from the bottom on my heart.

Happy Holidays to each of you.

p.s. to Martie:  See?  Yup, did stand-up comedy way back then, and still do on occasion at the Improv Comedy Club here I love making people laugh.

I am so sorry for being so late to respond, I forgot to "tick" the box that tells you someone read your poem so sorry!  Thanks so much for your nice comments on this one, and I am not afraid to say, that I am still growing, and changing just like that little flower.

Merry Christmas to you all, and may these holidays be filled with what really counts for you.

Love, Joy, and Cheer!
