I've often wondered on this great big planet earth,
During this wonderful season filled with love and mirth,
If folks are divinely sent to us on this journey we call life
To make us laugh, or lean on in our daily strife.

Best friends come along if we're lucky only just one time.
Usually we meet a special person in our early prime.
I met mine when I was young ~ we bonded from the start.
45 years she held my secrets, both good and bad, safe in her heart.

One day she died and went away leaving me alone once more,
I had no idea how to cope with what my future held in store.
I grieved and grieved, knowing she'd be mad if she saw I cried.
Her life held such intense purpose, and still did even though she died.

So I began to celebrate her memory, and what she did in life,
It helped if I remembered her as a dancer, a mother and wife.
Still there was a big hole, a void nothing ever seemed to fill,
Then I opened up my aching heart against its very will.

On these blue pages one day I read words in rhyme sublime,
So like the toes of a dancer who keeps such intricate time.
I read and read until I felt I saw inside that poet's soul
Could it be? Someone else didn't feel quite whole?

It takes time, trust, and work to build friendships that fit and feel just right,
I got to work then and there by saying hello that very night.
Since then our love just grew and grew like some rotten weed.
We are so alike its ridiculous, we're two peas in a pod indeed!

Today, I got a box in the mail my new best friend had sent,
I opened it, let out a gasp, and for the Kleenex I went.
Inside was a stained-glass, red-haired fairy, with beautiful wings of blue.
I held it to my heart, and knew what she had tried to do.

She had captured my Willow in glass for me to see forevermore
Done by her own two hands, to hang in the window by my door.
Looking out my window now, I feel so blessed as I take in every hue,
Knowing I'm lucky in this lifetime that my best friends numbered TWO!

Her card read,
"No two flakes are alike
with the possible exception of you and me."

~* Note *~
This all started from a graphic I kept as I thought it looked like a dear departed friend, named Willow.  Kit took that graphic and somehow turned it by her own hands into a stained glass art piece for me to hang in my window that I will treasure forevermore.

My heart bursts this day with love, gratitude, and gladness.

Well, in all honesty, I got a little lump in my throat from all the love and beauty in this post ~ your friendship with Willow, your friendship with Kit, Kit's thoughtfulness and talent, seeing the stained glass of Willow hanging from your home window, your poem ~ and your show of appreciation and gratefulness. Yeppers, I have a little lump in my throat!

God bless you all!

Linda

It arrived in one piece!!!  Woohoo!  That’s great!  Bless the gentle mailman!

I’m glad you like it Sharon (and yup … her hair colour was no accident).

Thank you soooooooo much for the wonderful poem. I absolutely loved it! The feeling is mutual my flakey friend.

You’ve laughed with me, and cried with me more times than I can count, and it scares me to know that you know me sometimes better than I know myself Sharon.  OK, I’m gonna stop typing before I start crying - Linda and I got the same lump, lol. Love ya too, and thank you again for such a beautiful poem ... that was a wonderful surprise!

Best wishes and big hugs,
/Kit

Mysteria, you are indeed a mystery.
No two flakes are alike, but, your flake is radiant like a precious gem. It sparkles for all to admire.

Through my tears of joy, I thank God for those angels He sends that may appear as flakes sometimes. I know how much Willow meant to you, and how deeply touched you are by Kit's artistic talent tailored just for you.  You're both as beautiful as that lovely stained glass piece.

  God bless,

You are all just so special - my muse has obviously "taken a hike," and up and left me but I had to pump this out as a thank you for Kit.  I was shocked to receive the parcel period, but when I opened it, well...you know, you had to have been there!  She is a very big-hearted, and wonderful person that Kitster, yes indeed she sure is.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to each and every one of you too from our family to yours.

I know how it feels to fall
and I have melted more than twice
I've been compacted like a ball
and I am useful in a fight.
I've kissed the ground in christening
and tantalized a tongue or two
I've danced till I was glistening--
so as for flakes? I've known a few.

But I'm far south--I'm in the drink!
(and no it's not the kind you think)
I've met more flakes than Kellogg's has,
and as an expert--I say these two flakes surpass
All the standards of flakedom
they have the fluff of stuff (and some
extra sparkle, these two chums
are love made visable--and fun!

My little tribute to two beautiful ladies of inspiration!

to you both!
