Lumpy Oatmeal makes me Crazy!

0 posted 2007-12-08 03:40 PM

my mother’s magic show has a deep bag of tricks
each day pieces of her drift away
i gaze into her heart; i tap on her mind
while she smiles and assures me
all is well.  i am here.

still her baby, i play hopscotch on one foot,
a tenuous skip from box to box
until I trip over the ineptitude i feel
stones scatter among stuffed emotions

now I am the one who dispenses hugs
kisses fears away, and smiles over teacups
together, we weave our dreams and memories
later i cry in the privacy of my car

i am up to here in tears

Yes, Life has a way of bringing us to a certain understanding ....and tears. Very well done.

Think you need one of these, aziza .  I know where you're at as it is a place all of us with aging loved ones go through.  Great poem.  *hugs*....jo

Oh, Alison, love ofttimes comes full circle ~ and then other circles of love spin off from that circle ~ and so on, and so on...

Your mother has taught you well and the love that she put into you is now lighting the lives of your own children.

A tender, heartfelt piece of writing that touched the mother in me.

Love & mother's Light,

Linda

Thank you all.

It's a balancing act between parent and child when care needs shift.  I never think of our roles as having reversed - though some people have said that to me - My Mom is always my Mom.  She is strong and beautiful.  She is very proud and works hard to maintain the independence she can hang on to.  I am proud to be her daughter.

Just for the record, Linda darlin', I have no children -- those kisses and hugs are for my Mom.  A weak link in the story line of my poem that I have corrected on my original.

Thank you all again -
