The Kingdom of Honolulu

In the Kingdom of Honolulu
good citizens paid taxes
to the King with great care
but the Kingdom was in disorder
and the king didn't care.
The schools were falling apart
for a lack of repairs and
the roads full of potholes
as if nobody cared.
All through the Kingdom
flowed an abundance of ice
and the addicts supported
their habits breaking into
good citizens autos and homes
and committing all kinds of vice.

... as if nobody cared! This is so sad indeed. We have so many potholes here in Rome too and always complain about the same things you mention here. There is a lack of responsibility and sense of duty in many, on both sides, authority and citizens.

Very good job you did here, dear James.

Love,
Margherita

How very sad. I guess we can't escape these kinds of problems....even in paradise.

Thank you all for the wonderful responses...according to a Honolulu Advertiser report of December 09 under the heading "State May See Jump in Drug Violence; it states that more than 100 multistate and international drug rings are operating in Hawaii."  Why?  Because the citizens and tourist buy and consume them. "A quarter-gram that sells for $40 on Hawaii streets costs roughly 70 cents to make in Asia."
Personally, my car has been broken into and my house an attempted break in.  How does a drug addict support their habit?  By breaking into good citizens cars and homes, by robbery, stealing and prostitution...James
