As Liz is a close personal friend of mine, I know she won't mind me posting this for our Jewish members on her behalf, with a special wish for our dear friend Seymour Tabin and his wife, Isabel.  Shalom

Eight Candles

Eight single candles to be burned
Eight sacred lessons to be learned
Of holding on to tenants taught
Of strength to win the battle fought

Of will to salvage what was there
A temple left in ill repair
Of gathering in warm embrace
To dedicate a holy place

Eight days for courier's return
Eight days menorah brightly burned
Illuminating face and walls
And faith within the temple halls

Of strength, of faith, of toil, of love
Of miracle from God above
Of celebration, thankfulness
Remembrance of all we're blessed

These are eight lessons to be learned
Each time a candle wick is burned
When dusk is dimming sunset skies
And all look on with loving eyes

May Hanukkah bring joy and peace
To all those gathered at your feast
There are eight nights, eight wicks to burn
A driedel spun when it's your turn

Happy Hanukkah
Liz

Well, I for one, am ding dang pleased that your reposted Lady Liz's poem!

In fact, I also learned a few things or two about Hanukkah! ~ and I am saving it for future reference!   ... There, now it is safely saved!

Yes, I too, wish all our friends of the Jewish faith, a "Happy Hanukkah!" ~ and a special one for our beloved Sigh Man and his lovely wife, Isabel.

Love to all of you!

Linda

I just jazzed this up for our Lizzie a bit, and hope she likes the result.  Happy Hanukkah to all those celebrating.

Sy, if I was down there you bet I would sure be spinning your dradle, but for now... Dradle Song
To both you and Isabel a big

SHaron, I don't know how you find these things, buried so long in the blue pages. Yes I join you in sending best wishes to Sy and Isabel. I miss them, It's much too long between those meetings of the poet hearts. You sure did spruce this one up, my friend. Thank you for reposting it
Miss you too, babe.Love you
