Spores!!

Spores –
that’s what they are!
They come ensheathed in a warm cocoon
completely shielded
while they morph into something recognizable.
Then, when the transformation is complete,
the casing opens and out they come
infecting all with ooh’s and ahh’s
and smiles and tears.
No one understands at the time
how permanent and long lasting
an infection it is,
or that it never goes away,
not in years and years and years.
And even when it seems to fade away. . .
Relapse!
It’s back!

They’re spores!
That’s what they are . . .
Reproducing, permanently attached,
life-long . . . spores.

My latest grand-son-spore was born Nov. 26, 2007, 7lbs 12ounces, 22inches – Zachary Ryan Brunson....and from the moment his head crowned he thoroughly infected everyone with the awesomeness of his being – even his 6 year old sister.

Now, Zachary Ryan Brunson, is the kind of spore that I like!

What a novel way of introducing your new baby grandson to us! You had me going there for a bit! I was ready for the big sneeze until I saw your addendum!

~ and hey, he's a looong one! Perhaps he'll be able to fill his grandpa's shoes some day!

Love to you and your family of spores! lol

A belated Happy Birth Day to this wonderful
spore...and you're quite the sport to see it
as such.

What a wonderful smile this gave me!

My little "Spore" is a 3 year old great grandaughter named Karina. Congratulations,
You're in for quite a ride. Keep this poem for him when he is older.

My brother, rest his soul, was baby-phobic--and he would not hold an infant, preferinng, he said, to wait "until they are human."

SPORES!
