I have little faith in the color pink

nor do I trust those two blue lines
that promise maternity
making me spend mornings
      bent
hugging porcelain thrones

I have become a skeptic
of two-tone ultrasound pictures
that show life
      - in a small beating heart
then twenty weeks later
mock its existence

and I’ve come to hate
tiny caskets
blanketed in pink roses

I am nothing special...and my name will soon be forgotten, but I've loved another with all my heart and soul, and to me,this has always been enough.~N.S

You captured the pain of this vividly Ruth, and I have to bet you have seen your share of this.  Well done piece.

You paint colors of sorrow so vividly.  I've been there too, in that land of heartbreak.  Oh, I'm so sorry for your pain too.

"tiny caskets
blanketed in pink roses"

ah, yes, and the jewels within.

I keep coming back and reading
.. you moved me again ..

And the image you placed in my head is haunting.

This packs a powerful punch, Hoot.  You convey your sorrow and frustration very succintly.

I sat on our state's child death review board for two years.
Yes, one feels hate, anger, sorrow and fear knowing that there is not a thing one can do.
As always, well written and expressed.

Thank you all for your replies and as poets for knowing the pain behind the words
