           Transience

Soft sunset-grey clouds
tipped in salmon and azure
The sound of rocks striking rocks
in an empty canyon
Water flowing into the mist
Shades dancing with shadows
and sunbeams
through the Winter forest
poet-dreams of a ‘different world’...
One thinks of all the things
that ultimately leave no traces

No more ‘real’
than a mirage
reflected in a mirror…

empty form
form in emptiness
as frost and lightning
all is flux…
('enlightenment' follows
  in the wake of transience)
cling to nothing!

Poet, this writing of yours makes me think of Freud's Requiem, by Von Unwerth -- it explores a walk and a friendship (that never occurred) while contemplating transience of existence as though it were all a dream. Freud’s essay, “On Transience”, recalls a leisurely summer afternoon in 1913 in the company of a poet assumed to be Rilke. Rilke and Freud discuss beauty and transience; Rilke admires beauty, troubled by its impermanence, while Freud believes beauty’s transience increases its value.

What a fine poem you have here, greatly enjoyed!

"cling to nothing"

That's what they say--the seers and prophets and such anyhow.

Falling or flying? It's hard to tell in mid-air.

(I've got a thousand of these axioms if we ever get our emails straight.)

Enjoyed this one and hope to see more.

(I'm around, just hit and miss lately.)

I enjoyed this one.  Cling to nothing---maybe so.  It's a philosophical concept I've toyed with from time to time.  And it's true that growth comes only in change, and the ephemera of life speak to us of eternity.

This certainly isnt transient, it resonates with truths and deep thought...thank you for the scenes..
