The Season's Fall

I leave behind the strength of past,
the proof of all I was.
The candle dims, scenerio
what is not now, what does...

it matter much, "not much", say I
as failure seems to be
the feelings felt no matter what,
as season's fall to me.

Some days it's time to give it up,
the trying's much too hard.
So for the now I trudge ahead,
each day a joker's card.

"Who do I think I am,"  say I
when each day reaches end.
I answer back, no longer sure
what's waiting 'round the bend.

Sleepless nights of worried thought
and long forgotten dreams.
Darkness only lessons pain
and softens inner screams.

And so I give it one more day
and another after each,
knowing, hoping come some day
there's happiness within reach.

M

everyday there will be happiness with in reach!, all you have to do is relax, and be your only self in your mind, maybe music, or tv or sleeping will do that, or even if it is writting poetry

You know, I agree! The trying is so hard at times. But, I keep on trying. I know how you feel, though. Hang in there.

Very much depends on your choice, dear Maureen. I do wish you to feel happy again!
You write of Season's Fall so beautifully though.

I once wrote this senryu which might fit in here:

Life flows placidly
we have the choice to be free
to cry or to laugh

Love and hugs.

November and February are often considered the dreariest months of the year.
It appears that you have tapped into that energy (or lack thereof) and have penned a sad, deeply emotive poem.

Melancholic  ~ yet beautiful in its purity of expression and poetic form.

"knowing, hoping come some day
there's happiness within reach."

~ There will be, dear heart. There will be.

Loving hug,

EA

Be thankful for each day you see
and I will be thankful for each day
I see words you pen in the blue pages

Poet, said my Muse to me, look in thy heart and write.

I appreciate your responses...

Sometimes though, unless walking in one's shoes and  having a clear understanding, the positive and the choices are not always there.

Yes, so you make the most of what is...

"I"...thank you

The miracle of a day
rests upon the small,
The tiniest things we see
and those not seen at all
The sounds strung around us,
the wavelengths that form our light
the faith that the sun will rise and
the stars will appear at night.

"And so I give it one more day
and another after each,

A powerful verse you've written!  One to believe.

I've wondered if you are subbing or teaching full time again.  I hope so.  You have so much to offer our children.  Good luck to you.

"Darkness only lessons pain
and softens inner screams."

And sometimes, the darkness barely muffles those screams. A poignant fine write, M.

miscellanea, yes I have until the 2nd week in December and then I am finished this long term job which was creating a new third grade made up from 4 other classes after 2 and a half months of school, since the school became over crowded.

Many of them extremely unhappy about being seperated from their friends and 4-6 others behavior problems chosen by their former teachers to be placed in the new class.) (hmmm, I wonder why). Between the unhappiness and the acting out... and the parents wanting  to know why their children were placed in the newer class...soon to be taught by a new teacher straight from the university...this definitely has tested my patience and ability and leads me to think I may no longer wish to restart a fulltime career in teaching where the responsibility of  everything  falls on the teacher and none on the parents.

The dismay in my words is the fact that  some schools, or even most, teach to the test now and what should be fun for 8 year olds is not anymore. Wanting higher level thinking leaves little time to do anything but learning how to write paragraphs of details( even though you can barely understand handwriting, which isn't important anymore), and learning how to write reasoning explanations, since the schools that perform well on tests  get the notoriety and funding over others.

I am looking forward to the break between jobs.

Last year was wonderful when I was allowed to be creative and  the children enjoyed learning, and this year just the opposite as I am told what I MUST do and am not allowed to stray from the curriculum.
