“If you’ve seen one rodeo- You’ve seen them all.”
I’ve heard that expression, ever since I was small.
Somebody loses, and nobody wins-
That’s the way the cards fall, and the way the wheel spins.

From some folks perspectives that just may be true.
But it isn’t that way, friend, for me or for you-
We ride what we draw then we go down the road-
Those gold buckle dreams are a mighty big load.

There’s more than one cowboy who’s lost to a skirt-
No bones he has broken compares to ‘heart hurt’…
So stick to the rough stock, leave women alone-
So live what you dream of, till the dreams are all gone.

There’s always some feed lot, or convenience store,
That will hire an old cowboy, there’s room for one more.
While you have the youth, son, stick to your trade,
Live out your dreams for too soon they will fade.

Soon no one will know, or care where you’re from…
You ask, “Who is he?” “Just some rodeo bum…”
Then you’ll drift away, feel forgotten and small…
So ride while you can, and, boy, you ride tall!

Young people live and enjoy the present, without thinking of a future solitude. And so it should be, you are right.
Enjoyed your poem.

I always enjoy rodeo tales, Gunslinger.
I think this poem sort of apply to all walks of life. When we get old and can't actively participate in life as we once could then we move to the background and  the young ones take their turn.
