Dearest Granddaughter...
You come from a long line of very strong women
Women who fought for their families
Women who toiled until their fingers bled
Women who stayed up nights with sick babies
Skipped dinner because there wasn't enough to go around
Women who stood up for what they believed in
Women who sent children off to war never to see them again
Women who cried and laughed and prayed with all of their might
You carry that fire within you, my darling Samaya Free
Yours to draw courage from
Yours to keep forever...close to your heart

If life seems too hard to bear
Remember your inherited gift of strength
Your inherited trait of endurance
