Mondays come, I breathe out, not wanting to breathe in,
wash the dishes, clear the clutter, a wee bit hopeful then;
the smoke has cleared, the house is quiet, but my brain's collapsed,
a sigh released, too tired to wonder why I am... perhaps.

My husband works away from home in another town,
home for three-day weekends, his time to lie around.
The kids stop in with their kids, bags and useful sundry;
They snag a bed, a meal or three...and always come in hungry.

The laundry baskets, heaping full, keep the washer busy;
the dryer tumbles all day long, I fold clothes until I'm dizzy.
I stumble over someone's shoes and bags left in the way;
Son's dog, beneath my feet, adds melee to the fray.

I find the remote, turn the TV down, thanking God that
...and my lucky stars, to boot...we don't have a cat.
A pot boils over in the kitchen, I hear hot liquid fizzle,
the cordless rings--left in the garage--and I begin to sizzle.

Then hubby says he needs a break, he's going for a beer
with the guys at the local Five; "See you later, dear."
The debit card is in his hand as he goes out the door;
he's laughing, winks at me, and says,"I'll double it, for shor!"

Confident, bravado-full, he swears that he's a winner.
It's 3:00 P.M.;  I roll my eyes; he won't be home for dinner.
Their weekend mayhem, comfort zone--house left in a mess,
Ok, by me, I'm leaving, see...them to their happiness!

Doesn't your family realize that you are a Klassy Lassy?!? ~ and should treat you as such!

You do realize of course, that it is the doting, loving, helpful, understanding, forgiving, kind, generous,and gentle ones who get taken the most for granted.

"Maid Quits" ~ But will they let you?!? lol

I can definitely sense your frustration ~ but   your spirit and sense of humour is evident as well ~ 'cause you're a Klass act.

Sounds like it's time for a family conference !

Loving, compassionate, and understanding hug,

Linda

  LOL...I had to write something and I'm dreading Thanksgiving a little because I don't have my usual stamina to rely on.  No one else cooks, so I'm elected and I've such a small kitchen.  Maybe if I start now...

James.... thank you ...they love me!  And I them.  It feels strange not having anyone here during the week now.  I really am blessed with family.

moondogz... I loved the cartoon, and left you a little story on the same page.  It did make me chuckle.  I could probably clear the house really fast if I played my piano.  LOL  My other hobby is cooking, though, and it seems to take precedence these days.

I'll save my you and my other PIP friends some chocolate chip cookies! But I'll have to hide them, too.

Klassy Lassy It seems to me that you are the one that needs the break but at least you have a sense of humour. Great poem,
Thanks for sharing.
