My meager words no matter how skilfully strung
Or my paltry verses however they are hung
Will neither create meaning nor purpose for me
Or help my trapped self break free
Poems only help themselves exist and nothing more
Or is it that I have just not seen their wondrous door?

Poems do sometimes take on a life of their own, but they are also a reflection of their authors...a voice expressed.  It requires a changed of thought to unlock the doors that trap us in certain modes.  You are the master of your thoughts.

As for this poem, it carries a lot to provoke mine own thought.

Brian, they have a wondrous door...
it's in the release of these feelings that one can see an opening.
