*My Shooting Star*

Shining, shining, a shooting star flies by,
As it passes, a soft yellow light streaks the sky.
Glowing, glowing, it twinkles so bright,
As it shoots across the wide skies tonight.

I wish upon you, to grant me my dream,
To make it come true, light me up with your beam.
Closing my eyes, I am drifting away,
Bathed in your starlight, my night is now day.

Flying, flying, with my shooting star,
Holding on to its tail, flying around far.
Dreaming, dreaming -- I must be asleep,
And in a midnight dream, so very deep.

ARCTIC WIND

That was sweet, who wouldn't want to hold on tight to the tail of a wee shooting star.

Arctic Wind, I can picture you swinging from that shooting star!

I can see you growing as a poet even in the short time you have been a part of our circle of kindred poetic spirits!

May all your dreams come true!

Do the words twinkle twinkle mean anything?

I think we all do this occasionally, why
not?

This is very very lovely, dear Arctic Wind. I adore spotting shooting stars (mostly on summernights in some places without artificial light pollution ...).

Dream on!

I'm a star watcher, too.  When I was young, my Father used to take us out and we would all lay on our backs and watch the shower of meterorites every time we knew they were expected.  It is one of my best memories.  Your poem is transcendent.  *smiles*....jo
