in the shadows

The dragons will dance tonight
acknowledging the gift of flight
by staying on the Earth,
until liberated in the coming
crystalline moment of Midnight.

More demons walk the world this year;
they know well
there is no heaven
there is no hell,
is it fear that keeps your lights on
or do you welcome them?

They stride
before the human tide of creative theology,
abstract frivolity,
the optimistic lifeline of the desperate and the hopeful,
the platitudes of semi-celibate mortal men
dressed in brocade gowns,
confronting them
from now until Walpurgis Night
when the Northern World again awakes
and the Earth's lifeblood
flows to bud.

It takes my breath away
some times
when I can slow my eyes
to see through each disguise,
to catch their movements in the shadows,
as they slip in and out of sight
tickling the seams of consciousness
that bind the dreams of righteous nonbelievers
through each sweaty fitful night.

Fear indeed!
It seems to rule the decade, does it not?
Enjoyed this, this night.

I very much enjoyed this but today this is what hit me:

"righteous nonbelievers"

because of a discussion gone bad last night.  Why do some think that their way is the only way and that if I question that they think I am trying to make them agree with my ideas, thoughts and beliefs?  I just want more open minded sight. meh...

love ya Icy.
