         Autumn Lake

The grand Autumn sunset
dances with astounding clouds
in a deep-October sky
reflecting in this shimmer-ripple
   lake,
(limpid mirror of finest dreams)
rimmed by flaming-crimson
  maples,
while three tiny turtles
line a floating log to watch,
the pair-bond ducks
painting aquatic arabesques
of perfect freedom!

yes! Those ducks are my buddies!
Sun-bathing turtles watching those duck 'arabesques' completes this Autumn scene beautifully!

I am always amazed at how many ways you can describe beauty and nature.

Well, your beautiful "Autumn Lake" instantly brought back my own lake, and though I have just been there, I wish I could sit by it again right now and watch such scenery as you so masterfully describe ... (no turtles in my own lake though, but many swans and ducks yes).

Sigh.

Love,
Margherita

beau·ti·ful

1. having beauty; having qualities that give great pleasure or satisfaction to see, hear, think about, etc.; delighting the senses or mind

2. excellent of its kind

3. wonderful; very pleasing or satisfying

4. the concept of beauty

5. (used with a plural verb) beautiful things collectively (usually prec. by the): the good and the beautiful

6. the ideal of beauty (usually prec. by the): to strive to attain the beautiful

This poem is all of the above, and a fine work of art.

What a glorious sunset whilst tiny turtles and dancing ducks enjoy the view from "Autumn Lake"!

Giving you a warm, autumnal hug,

Linda
