Simon mon amour
I used your shampoo today
the one you left here
when you last visited.
With every movement
of my head now
your fresh fragrance
dances in my mind.
And in the dimly lit corridor
your sweet voice resounds
and sunshine suddenly
floods this place.
I hear your laughter
filling the empty space
and I remember with a smile
the fun we had here
when we played football,
frightening cat Zelda
out of our area,
as we got excited
and maman said
we were too wild.
My heart leaps in joy
when I perceive the echo
of your happy proclamation
“goal, nonna, goal!”,
(of course you always won).
Can’t wait to play again,
my sweet little Prince,
see you in December!
For now let me kiss
your golden curls
across the distance.
Simon, mon amour,
Amorottolo di nonna …
mein Schätzchen
mein Sonnenschein!

You hear different idioms
in this family
but the one you already
know to perfection
is the language of the heart.
I love you, Simon.
Je t’aime de tout mon coeur.
God bless you.

Love,
Nonna Margherita

Margherita ~ Simon is already three years old?!? My word! How swiftly time flies by!

I know what you mean about using a loved one's shampoo and being reminded of them with every toss of your hair. How extra special that must be for you when it is your grandson and not able to see him as often as you would like.

You and he appear to have a very close relationship and I know that you are each blessed with the other.

Thoroughly enjoyed reading this heart-speak.

Much love,
Linda xo

Ah. but this grandmother also uderstands the need to use shampoo belonging to our absent wee ones.  I do it all the time myself.  I think this is a wonderful poem to add to his poetry book from Grandma.

It has been lovely to read your poetry again, Margherita.  I find myself so busy these days that I rarely get around here any more.  What an extra treat for me to find your picture posted.  You've just the beautiful smile I knew you'd have!

Dear Misc, I have missed you too. Thank you for coming in and for the love filled words!

Dear Marge,
you are a sweetheart for having had this idea of including these pictures of Simon and cousin Ethan. They truly are sunshine children, like your delightful Delaney and Landry.

Thank you for your friendship and for the loving words.
Love and hugs.

Oh margherita, how beautiful!

I loved the way you talked about the sunshine flooding this place and could relate so well as that's what children so do!

Your words made me smile very much and
it is good to hear something so directly from the heart without any need to employ any particularly complex vocabulary.
Wonderful!

Margherita - you are so blessed to have a lovely grandson and three is such a delightful age.  Your poem is a lovely testimony to a grandmother's love and I so enjoyed reading it.  Being a grandmother doesn't seem to be in my forseeable future and I admit to being a bit sad about that.
