Wind driven misery,
more tragic than words can tell.
Fire in all directions,
like a preview of hell.
Hot...though it is evening now.
A bright, orange,
van Gogh painted sun
hangs in the slate, gray sky,
blurred by smoke and ashes

Ida you paint a very realistic picture

and after seeing those terrible fires on the tele' it makes us feel so worried for you poor people living in that area. I hope you don't live to close to those fires.

Thank you all. These fires are terrible and I feel so sorry for the people who have lost everything. Fortunately the worst that has happened to us is very bad air quality
and stifling heat. Most of the fires are in the foothills and the mountains and though they have been all around us we are lucky to live in an area that has been pretty safe so far. The sickening part of all this is the spectre of arson. The winds are finally dying down a little and I am hoping that will give the fire fighters a chance to get the upper hand. If we're lucky maybe it will rain.

Powerful, dear Ida!

Frightening situation indeed. Also here in Italy there are every year so many arsonists creating terrible damage to land and people.

Giving grace for rain to fall abundantly.
