I can't believe she's done this, has she finally lost her mind?
Just look at me will you! How could she be so unkind?
Sure, I had a great day playing; a lot of dogs were there,
I ran, played tag, and hid in all those piles of fallen hair.

I had a laugh as each one left, with a dumb bow tied on each ear.
I wondered what kind of human would leave their doggy here?
Then what to my surprise, a lady scooped me off the floor...
She took her sheers to my hair, while I screamed, “Hey! No more!”

With tail between my legs I sat there looking ready for Halloween.
Boy am I going to give her my "what for", man, is she ever mean!
Then I heard her whisper through the door, “Hi Annie how was your day?”
I swore if she laughed at me I'd just go home, and run away.

I felt she held a laugh in all the way home in the car.
Once inside she got her camera, taking pictures from near and far.
So ~ humiliated and defeated, I just headed for my bed.
She picked me up, cuddled me. She had other plans instead.

She said, “I'm SO sorry, but you do look really cute that's for sure,
Even if they did take off just a tad too much of your fur.”
“I sent you there for a day of fun, a doggy spa sort of day,
I had no idea they'd make you look so “frou-frou” in this Halloween sort of way.”

She cut off the bows and such from me, as relief sunk in so deep,
I licked my human thanking her, but I was fast falling sound asleep.
I thought, all in all, I had a pretty good day at that doggy spa,
I even liked the colors they chose to paint each nail on every paw.

Happy Halloween Everyone
From Annie, Sheba, And Mysteria.

I have to tell you I never laughed so hard in my life - this dog is a tomboy, and definitely not a bow-type dog!

Somehow I find myself

Hating

Dogs.

They are

rather

Earnest

Whereas cats keep their distance

I can`t stand creatures that stick to you like Leeches

But for someone to write a poem to a dog, I`ll have to gongratulate you...

So cute , my dog always runs and hides when she has been to be clipped , yet my sister in law dresses her dog in fancy clothes all the time

Kalle, I love all animals but I like them au naturale.     You might be well surprised at what I write poems to      To me, dogs and cats are only little people with fur coats on, and I respect them just like I would a human. Definition: earnest - something of value given by one person to another to bind a contract See, even the dictionary thinks they are human. and I can't think of a better binding contract I've had.

Christine, she hid too, the second we got home.  I dragged her out from under the bed.  Today she is back running in the mud and rain of Vancouver, and loving it.

Annie looks so cute and Sheba looks like, "Is this really you, Annie?"  I love your poem.
Our daughter's little Yorkie, "Coco" actually struts and runs in front of everyone after her grooming as if she's begging all to see her in her finery.

Happy Halloween to the 3 of you, too.

ROFL!

Tell Annie that

The bows fall off ...
The toenails rub off ...
The fur grows back ...

But pictures, laughs and love remain always, lol.

Oh the humiliation of it all, lol!

Best wishes and big hugs,
/Kit

Mysteria I can see you have genuine love

for your dog, the same as I have for mine.

people who dont have a dog as a pet and a friend, don't really know the amount of joy that one gains from keeping them. My little dog Rozzie is like a child to my wife and me and we just love her. Great poem.

Dear Sharon, this was such a funny write and though I am a cat-woman, I too love all the animals and fully understand the deep bond that is created between us and them.
Really cute!

Love and hugs.

I never thought I would even get one animal, let alone two!  I have this crazy dog and cat now, and wonder how on earth I ever survived without them.  They supply the laughter that my absent grandchildren give so willingly.  They are indeed funny little children, with fur coats.  So human-like really, if you give them unconditional love they return it double-fold just like the "ones with thumbs."
