All That’s Left Of Yesterday

A golden band, a picture torn
A wedding dress only once worn
A lock of hair, an ornament
A paid receipt of money spent

A photograph hung on the wall
A pair of pants one size too small
A ticket stub, a souvenir
All proof that you, indeed, were here

A card that bears your signature
A book you knew I would treasure
Some checks that carry our two names
Back when they both ended the same

A broken heart, two tear filled eyes
A smile that’s forced is no disguise
A life now filled with disarray
Are all that’s left of yesterday

I am nothing special...and my name will soon be forgotten, but I've loved another with all my heart and soul, and to me,this has always been enough.~N.S

Hi, Ruth. I could hear the empty echo that has sadly replaced the chimes of wedded bliss. This aches.

Loving hug,
Linda

touching write, it's so sad to me when love ends this way....any way really.

hoot_owl_rn,

This is an interesting, and very well carried out form.

I like it.

Ruth, this is beautiful. I sure remember those yesterdays. They were filled with too many heartaches.

I love the lines but how sad the  content is.  Hopefully the dark clouds will soon pass out of your life.

God bless,

Ruth, rarely have I read a poem that has touched me like this one, a sad but beautiful poem, thank you for sharing and I hope your luck will change in the not too distant future, good luck.

I've always liked that country song "I've got these little things... he's got you"...

Loss comes in so many ways and we hang on to all that we have left...

Wonderful write!!
