`Thingís of Beauty
There are many wondrous sights in this land of great delights
And that we should appreciate them all, should be our duty,
Many things of great appeal should help the saddest heart strings heal,
For if you take the time to see, there are so many things of beauty.
Magpies warbling in the trees, orange blossom on the breeze,
The brilliant orange sunset that shrouds a mountain range,
The enchanting call of a shy curlew, a full moon as it comes in view,
The satisfying harvest of bounteous vineyard grange.
Many blessings are on us bestowed, someone to share a heavy load,
A most cherished light at a rugged journeyís end,
The welcome of a fireside bright to cast off the chills of a winterís night
Is a circumstance that nearly all will recommend.
A debutante with a glowing smile that goes on memories future file
Is a welcome thing of beauty that no one will deny,
Or a happy child with tousled hair to share the love of a family fair
And in whose hearts creates a special place to occupy.
A farmerís faith that stands supreme, the measured tread of his willing team
That prepares the sandy soil for a future crop of golden grain,
The longed for rain that falls at last to give new life to crop and grass,
The most vital link of all in natureís wondrous chain.
The mammoth trunk of a redgum tree that gives shelter both to bird and bee,
And spreads its mighty branches so that stock may use its shade,
A tiny brook from some hidden source makes its way on wandering course,
While itís crystal clear waters create a gentle serenade.
Yes, natureís brush is everywhere, if only we took time to share
The never ending brilliance of her all expanding role,
The beauty of her varied ways both on fine and stormy days
Is the reason why appreciation should always be our goal.
