Love Song Of The Nightingale

It waits beside the garden wall
Till purple twilight starts to fall
Then it sings from shadows deep
To broken hearts that come to weep

Every gentle note will try
To ease the pain of love gone by
Soft and sweet they hear it sing
A song of comfort that will bring

The hope that hearts will heal again
And new love will one day begin
Its melancholy song plays on
Until the early rays of dawn

So if your heart is feeling long
Come listen to the gentle song
That’s sung from under twilight’s veil
The love song of the nightingale
