Sunflowers burst the seams
of cold blue starkness,
while in ebony darkness
your eyes beheld glowing starred skies
etched within a heart
stuck in eternity's quicksand.

Forever, I say, is not long
to know the all of you;
for even now I find
you in a blade of grass,
feel your angst
within the very fall
of a sunflower seed’s head
as it drops its gaze,
turns its face from the sun.

And you could never have known
a soul would stand here
in bared soul, missing you,
missing the life-blue only you knew
how to convey,
all the hopes and dreams
of lonely midnight screams
captured within brushed moments,
hushed sighs,
as society’s lies were set aside.

And all the while,
one heart did bleed true,
did bleed the essence of need
(the way only you could do)

Quietly I survey the horizon,
absorb wild west winds
and sweet scents of grace
that still caress the upturned face
much the same
as you, who begged God for true love
but found instead pain and sorrow
in the easel of life's strife,
caught within those never ending swirls.

But if the heart never lies
I do believe, I know you,
Vincent.

And if I could paint the sky
just once before I die
in the blue of you,
the clouds would be jealous,
but gloriously highlighted
in wisps of pure lightest hue.

If I could paint the day
into the night as you,
the sun, moon, and stars
would all join hands
and bow to the
master of blue.

And if I could but for one moment
paint Love the way you do,
I'd hold my heart in my hands,
and the colors on my canvass
would all bleed true.

If I could paint the sky,
it would be a portrait
of you.

WOW!...quite a remarkable pair of ‘writes’!

I am especially fond of:

“eternity's quicksand”;

“I find
you in a blade of grass,
feel your angst
within the very fall
of a sunflower seed’s head
as it drops its gaze,
turns its face from the sun.”;

“hopes and dreams…
captured within brushed moments”;

“Quietly I survey the horizon,
absorb wild west winds
and sweet scents of grace
that still caress the upturned face
much the same
as you, who begged God for true love
but found instead pain and sorrow
in the easel of life's strife,
caught within those never ending swirls”;

v. serious, long-sustained applause!

[a poetic ‘standing ovation’ for both ‘Vincent’ posts from this fine author!]

It was very hard to pick a favorite section of this piece, as I loved the entire thing!  Lovely Kacey.

Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh!!!!! Kacy, what a perfect starry, starry night tribute - no, not just tribute, but also blending of Vincent and Kacy.  I really do believe that this is my very, very favourite of yours and the most magnificent of yours I have ever read.

If I remember correctly, your last Vincent van Gogh poem was a long time ago, but from what Bruce said, I may be wrong.  If it isn't posted recently, please repost in case I didn't get to save it in my Kacy folder, but it cannot be as wonderful as this one - this must surely be a once-in-a-lifetime masterpiece of perfection!

This writing just blows me away.

So it's a pair of portraits, each painted in Vincent's own signature colors from a different perspective, combining to form the definitive vision of this extraordinary artist.

Great work!! What a fine, powerful tribute!

Awesome, dear Kacy! I think your words reached him somehow up there somewhere ... they are so intense!

Love,

My humblest thank-yous, for these comments.
All my words pale in comparison to Vincent's passionately painted gifts.
I often sing along to Don McLean's 'Vincent' song, which I was fortunate enough to have seen him perform live many years ago in California.
And when I saw van Gogh's paintings up close, I cried, and was totally mesmerized. (Guess you can tell how deeply this one master artist touches my spirit.)
So thank you, each, for letting me share my  love of this artist with you.

I was compelled to return for another 'read' of this wonderful 'write'!

also... I enjoyed reading the fine comments from so many talented
'P.I.P.-land' readers and poets...plus the additional 'thank you'
post by Ms. 'Midnitesun':

yes...especially Don McLean's version of his "Vincent" performed
with Chet Atkins (THAT was 'as good as it ever gets!!')

additional long-sustained applause for this work of (poetic) 'fine art'!

Smiling here, at that line....which is missing the word 'enough' from my original!
Guess it is understood, therefore unnecessary?
