I used to matter.
Skinned knees, diapers and hugs.
I used to be unique.
You held me in your arms till morning.
I used to be special.
But Mother is 1,000 miles gone.
I used to be beautiful.
Turning heads my way.
I used to be funny.
Keeping the room in stitches.
I used to be smart,
and my opinion was highly regarded.
I used to be a gardener.
Soil spilling through my fingers.
I used to feel loved.
No other woman could take my place.

But now...I see how easily I can be replaced.
Living in a fog and then it clears like crystal.
The truths all stare in my face.
Another lover, another mother,
another sister, another friend
can all take my place.

My ashes long spread in the four corners...

...and then maybe I will matter.

Oooo, not a very pleasant place to be in. Feeling that we are readily replaced, hurts to the core. I am still licking some of my own wounds. Mind you, I've been working on my self-esteem, and have come to realize that in reality, I could never be truly replaced because I am unique ~ and I am special! Unfortunately for them, they realized that fact too late! Hang in their, Sweetie! It's their loss!

This truly aches.

Giving you a warm, loving and compassionate hug,

EA

Tina, I understand how you feel, except perhaps the part where one actually did matter at one stage.

In moments like these, my advice is to hug your kitty, Rudy, and any other animals you may have.  They adore you (even if it only appears to be kitty-regaly)unconditionally, continuously and without question and will always understand far more than seems possible.

Tina, I feel for you dear lady but always remember things are never as bad as they seem and one day in the not too distant future, the sun will come smiling thru'and you will be smiling too, good luck.

Tina, We all feel replaceable sometimes. But your poetry proves that you are not.

You DO matter NOW, dear Tina! You are here in your place, because you matter,  because you are loved. Life changes, but within your core nothing can touch you, because you are one with the Source divine.

I know, I know, we sometimes forget who we are and then we feel fragile. But with the awareness of our worth the strength comes back and helps us out of loneliness.

Your poem reflects the melancholy of your heart very well.

Love and hugs.

It starts when your first child leaves for kindergarten and comes home with "The teacher said"  and  never ends. Love to you, they come around in the end.."late"
