Thanksgiving Orange and yellow We give thanks and cheer The smell of a turkey We know Thanksgiving is near Giving thanks To God for our food It is a happy day Not a time to be crude Out of the oven And on to our plates A big turkey roast Your family awaits Smells of the potatoes Smashed on the side Taking one bite Youre on a hayride Squash and dumplings Finished with a smile Ready for desert! Im sorry! You have to wait a while! Spiced pumpkin pie The ending to a great meal So good and sweet This must be unreal So we give thanks To God for our food And for our shelter And people rescued Thanks for our friends And our family We all get along Very happily Thanksgiving Will come to a rest Until next time This was the best ARCTIC WIND © |

Every time I read of those turkeys on the table, I'm reminded of the scene in "The giant" when the little girl cried desperately for her feathery friend ... I went through such a trauma too, but for a bunny. But this is tradition and your poem renders the spirit of celebration very well, dear Arctic Wind. Enjoyed. Love, Margherita  |

Happy Thanksgiving to you, too! Our house is filled with wonderful aromas from all the roasting and baking in preparation for the family feast of thanks, this evening! I was looking for some Thanksgiving poems, and then I recalled this one that you had posted last month. I thought it should be brought up for the American Thanksgiving! Apple pie! and Pumpkin Roll, have you had a pumpkin roll?  mmmm..yes apple pie is my favorite as well,with a scoop of vanilla ice-cream(AS A MATTER OF FACT MY COOKING APRON THAT IS VERY SPECIAL TO ME, HAS APPLE PIE SLICES ALL OVER IT)  I used to pick them off the tree, and help my grandmother make homemade apple pies..making the dough from scratch, rolling it out...adding apple pie spice, I add apple pie spice to my yams..with marshmellows on top... Have you had sweet potato Souffl'e oooo la la sounds french lol....mmmmm You are going to have to cook us something right now...I am soooo hungry now... lol! |

Pumpkin roll has cream cheese and nuts, spice, like carrot cake...mmmmmm email it to me when its ready ...lol not to much I have gained ten pounds by just thinking about it..lol a girl has to watch her figure you know...hehe Hungry for sweetness..hmmmm sounds tasty and a man that can cook is a plus! |
