A friend likes my poetry
feels inspired to write some too
when reading of laughter and woe
pouring from my mind and fingers...

He brought me a poem he wrote
proud he was, and happy too:
I looked at the page - well I looked again,
and really felt sorry for that paper
I held between my fingers.

How much redundancy, how much trite
- hmm, ness, can one poor page suffer?
Well, now I know, way too much -
who would have thought
paper was that tough?

And not just paper anymore,
but think of that amazing ether
carrying this ho and hum and neither
right across a Universe?

What worries me more than any other
is the thought of an intelligent sort
out there in cosmic land, and armed to boot
reading this tripe and after falling off a stool,
taking a space ship aimed at destruction
and visiting our space.

Who knows, who knows, but they may think
man is way beyond any saving grace:
and all I meant to say was
that was a very bad poem.

Interesting 'write'!...

particularly:

"How much redundancy, how much trite
- hmm, ness, can one poor page suffer?(!)"

Perhaps rather like wondering exactly how
many snowflakes would fill the Grand Canyon!?

As a scientist, of course...I know that the erroneous
concept of 'cosmic ether' was beginning to look like
an eternal albatross hanging the neck of scientific inquiry
until Albert Einstein finally debunked it...however I also love:

"ether
carrying this ho and hum and neither
right across a Universe?"

Applause!!

This poem made me laugh, (proving it's value) I have read some of those poems. A poem by a "love sick" friend comes to mind.
She had far more love than talent as I recall. My contribution to her feeble attempt at poetry was tact.

"who would have thought

~ Some of my poems had to be written on cardboard! lol

Hugs 'n smiles across the miles ~ and across the Universe!

I enjoyed your poem and hear what you are saying Windwalker, but sometimes good poets have such beginnings and can be moulded with kind and careful guidance coupled with regular exposure to good poetry.

Hi, WW!

"Who knows, who knows, but they may think
man is way beyond any saving grace"

If there are any "they" out there to think then I reckon they've come to that conclusion already with or without supposedly bad poems.

All in all, however, all expression is good in the eyes of the all seeing - I think.
