Sitting on the Greyhound
It feels kind strange
As I look out of the window
Across the open plains

Somewhere in the distance
Beneath the blazing sun
Lay the bodies of the Legends
That have died by the gun

Far beyond the cactus
And the Mason Dixon line
In the canyons and the deserts
Lost in the sands of time

A thousand different stories
That make up this land
Geronimo & The Alamo
Custer's final stand

From the gunfight at the OK Corral
To The Last Chance Saloon
Lay discarded wanted posters
For Men who died too soon

(Now) Jesse James, Doc Holiday
Wyatt Earp and Buffallo Bill
Keep each other company
For Eternity on Boot Hill

With belly's full of licquor
And pockets full of Gold
Killed by somebody quicker
When 23 was old......

Yes, I guess 23 was old in those days.  lWe have come a little way.  Interesting slant on the old west.  Joyce

Great poem Effjayel, thoroughly enjoyed it.

It took me back to my younger days when we used to see all those wild men of the West in the movies, have a good day.

wonderful!!! When I drove my first long distant drive...from St.Louis to LA, I kept entertaining myself by thinking that if those roads could talk, if those trees could talk, if those bushes and desert could talk, what kind of stories they were going to tell me? What if the cloud could talk?
