Wasn't Last Time the Last Time?

I tear your pictures off the wall
just like all the times before.
I break my fingers to take your calls
just to fight the same old wars.
And it's making me a mess, but I'm putting us to rest
and this time i won't...

I can't keep my faith in something I can't see.
You could be lying in my bed, but I can't
see you here with me.
I'm so sick of this routine;
Like a car crash I've already seen.
And I'm done.

'cause everything's wrong
but it's alright.
everything's wrong...
well it's alright.

And I hear you say that "We can try to change".
but we try and fail and try again
just to end up in the same place.
So I've been sitting, and I'm thinking
but I ain't got no words
Left to say.

'cause everything's wrong
but it's alright.
everything's wrong...
well it's alright.

I tear your pictures off the wall;
they look better on the floor.
I break my fingers to take your calls;
I won't take them anymore.
And it's making me a mess, but I'm putting us to rest
and this time i won't....

The soul is oftentimes a battlefield where reason and judgement wage war on passion and appetite.

Superbly done.  I am sorry about your pain.  However, sometimes it is very wise and right to recognise when something is over and to take the bit between your teeth and move away, and eventually on.  Even if you slip back again, final (or near final) recognition of the truth, is the key to freedom.  I think a mistake that many make, is to try to find another love as part of the healing.  I think healing is best reached on your own, with the support of friends, so that you are whole again, before finding another love.  I wish you continued strength, wisdom and perseverance - and believe that all of those will lead to your inner peace and happiness.

Ethan, I enjoyed this.

Sounds like we have similar stories I've had years of "the last time" with a certain someone .. I've decided it's always just the last time before the next time.

Hi Ethan...I'm really glad to see you.  I've wondered how you were doing. The beat resonates as I read this, into music I could almost hear.  That's good lyrics.

Letting go of a relationship gone wrong, can be like breaking a bad habit. It's difficult at the beginning, but gets easier as time goes by.

Now you have freed yourself up to allow a new love to enter your life when the time is right.

I don't get around these forums much anymore... but I had to tell you that I found this to be a powerful write. Hit me somewhere inside...made me think and reflect. Very much like the way you put this together

It's good to read you again.  I know this push and pull all too well.  I never thought I would be able to put it behind me but I have. Always a good feeling.  It's cliche but it prepared me for the relationship I'm in now.

If at first you don't succeed destroy all the evidence that you tried.

Oh this was so very well written, the impact of your wrath so very clear.

Hmmm, I could see my own life in this!

Well done,

Sometimes hurting repeatedly gets so old, it almost comes to apathy, a fate much worse than going separate directions, and learning to live again.

I thought the lyrics were so well done and I, too, could hear the blues.  ~ KL
