Lover’s Hearts

If only you had seen the tears in her eyes
When the man she grew to love said his goodbye
And tell the woman of his life
That she must be left behind
It broke her heart… and his.

If only you had heard the promise that he made
To keep her heart at ease and worries from her head
And tell her the love she gave
Cannot make him stay
It drove them both insane.

And be it as it may, if love was meant to stay
For a period of time their hearts must be away
Though time cannot give back that time that it once took
Or take away the pain that these young hearts had to endure
The promise of young lovers will always stay true.

If only you had seen the tears down his face
When the woman in his life told him she would wait
For her true love to return
That she wouldn’t leave her man
If filled with hope these lover’s hearts.

One day he will return to the love which both took part
And swear to one another that they’ll never be apart
These lover’s hearts together they will stay
Always, forever, plus a day.

In the blood soaked battle field, bleach the bones of countless millions who in the midst of victory stopped to rest, and resting they died.
