Here, Now, Forever

When
lo and behold !
I came upon a moth,
I didn’t see him in time and I swept the poor little guy into my dust pan
Oh no!
He fluttered out of it, disoriented, and his wings were broken.
I felt a horrible sinking feeling in my chest
The kind you get when you realize you just permanently ruined somebody’s life and doomed them
I took the poor thing in my hands as it desperately tried to flap it’s wings to fly again
I had a knot in my throat,
And a great feeling of sorrow and remorse overtook me
I took him to the ledge and threw him into the air,
Hoping his wings would catch a breeze and give him momentum to sail away
Back to his little moth family
Where his moth wife will lick his wounds and heal him
But
Alas!
He just fluttered down to the forest floor like a broken kite..
And got tangled in a spider’s web..
I stood there and watched the misery I had caused
And started to blubber uncontrollably.
I sat on the floor and curled into a ball and put my face deep in my arms,
Bobbing, like a lost buoy at sea.
Still, the moth continued to struggle,
Flapping it’s impotent wings in one of the most pathetic displays of futility I have ever seen.
This went on for hours,
And I was moved, and deeply saddened, at the will of this creature’s spirit.
This moth had something to live for.
There were good things in it’s life that it did not want to leave just yet,
And It was me,
In all of my clumsy human savagery, who robbed this noble creature of it’s life.
I’ve never been so ashamed of myself
For being what I am,

For being brought up to think it’s ok to allow such things to happen..

It’s not ok.

I can only beg for the moth’s forgiveness..

I’ve never been so sorry about anything in my whole life…

This is very touching, dear Joseph, and I understand your pain, because such things move me too very much. Now imagine the pain multiplicated by the infinite when a mother sees her children suffer and die, because of hunger or war. And the whole of humanity is guilty because we get accustomed to such atrocity.
Yes I agree, you have a beautiful sensitive heart. May we all awaken to LOVE.

Heartfelt write indeed.

Love,
Margherita
