GENETTA TIGRINA
29 September 2007

For a long time
I have known you were there.
I saw your droppings in my garden
and told Makhosi and Tigger and Daisy about you.
And last night, I saw you –
not just a glimpse -
you were there
in all your magnificence,
early in the evening,
first of all, on my verandah
and then you slunk down the stairs
with more grace
and presence
than a princess
at her first ball
and my heart stopped
and so did you
right under my window
where I stood
in breathless awe
and the outside light shone full
on every one of your
perfectly framed
large spots
on either side of your elegant body
and you foraged in the Digitaria diversinervus
right below me.

You didn’t know I was there,
but I didn’t feel
a traitor
for
I was for you
I was with you
and I was you
for several glorious moments
that will last forever
and I had to phone Chrisjan
who knew.

You honour me
and my forest

and dare I hope
that you live in one or more
of my treetops?
Logic tells me you do,
but that seems too much honour
for little old me.

Thank you Genetta tigrina,
you blew me away.

- Owl

Gorgeous mix of lavish imagery, emotion, and everyday situations. Very pretty!! I suppose I don't do you much honour, but it did for a moment remind me of that Piñata game for the xbox 360, where you gather exotic creatures in your back yard

ohhh absolutely gorgeous Diana
I can see her
there in the evening light

must you mind the fur babies closely
or will she touch them?

Thank you, PoppaLoco.  Being a South African, I don't know about the reference you made.

Thank you, Kate.  My fur babies are completely safe from our genet, because of our household routines and their lifestyle.  Tigger and Daisy(and I!) are so warmed by your concern and love for them.

Oh, and Kate, thanks for being so gentle in using the word "touch" instead of others of varying levels of horror.  I did notice and meant to say so in my first reply to you, but somehow forgot.

Diana, I too,
have had similar moments
communing with animals.

Your words were beyond beautiful.

Thank you, Magnus.  I am glad you enjoyed it.

Thank you, Donna.  You have no idea how good it is to be back.  I have sneaked in a few moments at a time to read, but it is soooo good to be back properly!  I have really missed this and felt the void.  Thanks for the hugs, and hugs back to you too!

Thanks you, Linda, and for posting a photo.  I wish you could have seen my genet in real life too.

Thank you, inkedgoddess.  You honour me.  I love and live in awe of the blessing of the natural order.  (I have always loved your avatar of the cats!)

I have missed your wiseness of nature...and love the images you portray...knowing full well those joyful moments, we grasp, like a commune with God and feeling a part of every thing....harmony at it's finest and you bring the reader along for a moment of life in the wild, raw and open....

enjoyed

Thank you James.  I am glad you enjoyed it.

Big smiles, Margherita.  Thanks for enjoying my experience along with me and even more for my lovely welcome back, but especially for loving my genet.

Thank you Lee.  You honour me with your beautiful words.  It is good to know you feel the same way about nature.  It is a privilege to know that I bring harmony in the midst of my current fears and despair.  Thank you for letting me know.

Ahhh...these words are so perfect. I too have felt those brief moments when all are one, and all is well with the universe. Beautiful write. Much enjoyed. You're so fortunate to have such a lovely animal near you.
