October rain comes pouring down
The tear drops hit my face
As I look up at the sky
Feeling so out of place

I am here, yet I am not
Will I ever get over you?
For as long as I can not forgive myself
I will continue to feel this blue

The rain masquerades
This pain I feel deep inside
Though in truth I know
I really can not hide

I miss you and want you back
There I said it, now what do I do?
For I know this is forever
I simply lost you

Yet I am with another
Years have passed us by
Nevertheless on my pillow
One can see the tears I cry

Do we only get one perfect love
One single chance that goes away
Suppose mine has passed me by then
The pain hasn't lessened with each day

No...it's just as fresh
Fresh as though it was only moments ago
Reality blurs with fantasy
I have nowhere to go

Oh October rain
I welcome your wet release
As I look up to the sky
Clinging to hope, looking for peace

"Life is not measured by the breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away"

I love the blend of nature and emotions.  After all (in spite of so many indications to the contrary!) people are supposed to be part of nature!

Sorry to hear of your pain.

Perhaps a thought worth considering, especially with regard to your reference to realiy, is that often the "one that gets away" assumes an impression of unreal perfection, and the goodness of the person that one is with, is hidden behind the reality of the wrong or the irritations that can be tolerated, or even understood, or the thought that some of the problems stem from the combination of the couple as opposed to the individual, and perhaps what seems unreconcialable isn't so after all.

I find that rain puts me in a hopeful mood as well.
this write was filled with longing, regret, and that glimmer of faith at the end.

No storm rains down forever.
Good luck and good write. Enjoy the rain.

I really enjoyed the honest comments!

OwlSA--What you say is so very true. The one "that gets away" does take on a unrealistic perfection...however I still miss her dearly.

As for the person I am with now, she's wonderful. I love her very much--I just find myself lately thinking about the love I lost. Most of this had to do with the fact that I didn't treat this person very well in the end. Too long of a story to go into--but needless to say I was a major factor in our breakup. I have guilt over that. I've had this guilt for four years now. I was hoping it would be over with by now, but it's not. I suppose that has to do with the fact that we haven't spoken since our breakup, and so much (at least for me) is unresolved.

Thanks for reading and responding.

Take care,

Amy
