He’s swept away by this room full of people
Like a giant wave of things that could have been
That might have been
Pulls him under and slams him down
Barely returning to the surface
That corner looks so inviting
But the view from there is a brick wall
His muscles tighten as fear takes hold
His head drops and his eyes gasp for air
But then she walks in through the door
And his heart falls to the floor
Now he’s standing in front of life’s mosaic
A gift that everyone endures
She doesn’t even notice him

Then to his right a voice chimes in
Like a sweet breeze of seraphim
She said, “Im adding this entry in hopes it will help you.”
“The only thing you need to understand is that people grow and change.”
“What you had before will never happen again.”

Now he gathers his heart up off the floor
In hopes of reconstruction
Or maybe just out of stupidity
He begins to realize that pretension is a rough road
And as much as he wants to he can’t
Take those things he said back
He’s stuck for what seems like an eternity
Trying to put the pieces back together
There’s a voice by a normally unabated friend
“Don’t give up.” He says

He breathes again for the first time in months
And begins to laugh
“Excuse me.” He says dropping his grief
A certain sign of relief
He finds his nerve that’s been lost all along
He happily sees he wasn’t wrong
A million thoughts are streaming like a river
Through his head
Abruptly stop
He’s beginning to find his wings all over again

The most enduring find these truths self evident...friendship is a relationship that endures; and there is a best friend always within the self.

Welcome to Passions.
Enjoyed your first post.  Thought provoking.

Beautiful, made me feel compassion more than skin-deep. A friend to help you accept is invaluable.. Was this a tribute, or part of a history?
