Mellow Yellow

He took a trip,
without leaving his perch.

Imagined himself,
atop a grand old birch.

From there he could see,
the steeples tall,

of Dublin, Cork,
and Donegal.

View the ships,
in Galway Bay,

Or look to Wicklow,
as it greeted the day.

Then he'd sing,
of the Emerald Isle,

a lullaby,
that made you smile.

this is a poem I wrote about an
Irish pen-friends Canary who he
fed hemp seeds to so he'd sing.

Hey late, thanks for your comments.
Not sure if he ever sang, never heard
back from my pen-friend after the "mellow
yellow" poem...maybe it was the accompanying
cartoon I drew of the canary with a joint hanging out of his beak and wearing a headband that put him off..guess I'll never
know.

Thanks Ida, very kind and thoughtful of you
to say so.
