A little, daring sort I was
To wander out alone
Into a land, which rumour has,
Was built on demon’s bone

Whatever they were here to guard,
They clasped at my steady feet
Under my steps as I trod on hard
In the direction of a fearful heat

As I drew closer, they grew more
These shapes and words and sounds
Stacked up around a sacred core
A citadel that knew no bounds

For in the centre was my goal
A hidden, unimaginable prize
Thus, even when they’d swallowed me whole,
I fought my way out of their lies

And with each step forward a word did die
A sound, a shape, a building stone fade
Till the towers of awe and dark walls so high
Crumbled down around a small box of jade

With heightened heart I touched the box
And its royal impression fell off
As it surrendered its strange treasure
Something wrapped in soulless black cloth

The black looked up at me, naked and alone
No longer shielded by its haughty guards
Screamed infant-like as my hand came down
To take it gently by the cuff,
upon which it shrivelled into shards

Now I saw what Fear had choked and covered
Around the object that now shone and hovered
And kissed with tearful eyes, lips whole
My brilliant, fragile, beautiful Soul

Real courage, it is said, is honoring the fear and giving bravely anyway.

Often a torturous journey, full of strength and learning.

Descript, the birth of real freedom.

Passionate rendering.

Thank you. I almost regret writing this so early, I wanted to save the subject for when my poetic skills had increased a little. I couldn't let it rest though, and I do feel a little proud!
Cheers
Pops
