Time, Motion, Change, and Silence

     [universal certainties]

In this twilight rainbow-forest,
’mid seasons idling on the cusp
  of time,
what shall pass?...
and what remain?...
beyond the autumn winds
  of change,
when the winter-heart and soul
  turn clear
as the crystal moonlight,
dancing through the frosted
  pines
with all the dreams we’ve left
  behind,
like retreating shadows
where no illusions stand…
to chasten this ‘indifferent’ universe,
of infinitely cascading perpetual
  motion,
and immensely cruel, relentless
  silence!

Secondhanddreampoet,
You do wonderful, magical things with words,
I think you are my favorite poem on this site.

Might get me depressed, brooding on that poem and the Way of Things for too long. Great thoughts though, and beautifully put!

You are amazing. I have read and reread this so many times that I'm wearing it off my computer screen. Fabulous.  Marti

Visiting this poem again, this time with a friend who enjoyed this write and a number of your other works tonight, Poet. We both admire the light/dark images leading the reader to silence at the end, noting that in Eastern thought, silence is often considered the beginning.
