in murky break of day we sit over coffee
I
reading poetry from a book in my heart
delicately illustrated
turning pages with memory fingers
you
hair curling morning close to your head
counting my bank account
tsk tsking into your cup
smiling small
indulging me

on the table between us lies a dark stranger
I have brought from my dreams
clouded
wrapped in a repeated refrain

I keep him wrapped thus
so I cannot see you watch me look at him
touch him

with soft memory fingers

in murky break of day
past the coffee cups
past the checkbook and your smile
after the sweet night walks away
my dark stranger sings to me
notes in counter part

you have not followed your first heart
      you must leave the thread
      only at the last moment

Dear Kate, I think one couldn't say it any better. This is powerful and rendered with mastery. There are gifts that deserve to be unwrapped slowly to be fully tasted.
Secret and intense!

Love,
Margherita

Oh, you did this
ever so well...

and if a gossamer thread
could hold a dream
this one would be
the first spin.

Milady, there are times when a stranger from
the darkness of our dreams becomes so familiar
as to become a much anticipated and cherished friend.
    Your words move me, much.

Oh, I do so know what you mean, Lady Kate. A vivid imagination can be a girl's best friend ~ at times...

And you, m'dear, have the talent to share your visions ever so provocatively.

LadyKate~
The all of this wraps itself around my eyes,
whispers itself into my ears,
sheds it's beauty on speak-aloud lips,
seeps into my heart,
to cozy down in that forevering place~

Indelible is the ink you pour dear Lady~
