              Dear Joanne

The other day I washed and mended your jacket.
The one Jackie picked out one day while shopping for Christmas gifts, so I bought it.

"you're mending that jacket" said Denise with a puzzled look. "Why?" asked Jackie.

I asked myself,
But a mother doesn't always have the answers.
She just does.

So many times I've said, "take off that jacket,
(or sweater, whatever you had on) and let me sew that seam".

So it seemed the fitting thing to do.
Don't ask me why.
A mother doesn't know the answers,
she just does.

I have found myself doing the same kinds of things. I cried as I read your poem, so close to home.

Well Ms. Late,
And that's what mothers are for. It's comforting to recall. And when you share your recalling you multiply it's benefits exponentially. I like that. Maybe you could do it again. Thank you.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane,
I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

Yes sometimes we just need to "put one foot in front of the other" in order to get through another day. This is what my mother used to say to me when the going got tought.
   Thanks for sharing "Late."

JL,  Thank you for reading,I appreciate your thoughts. "late"

And Moondogz, I am glad to know you still talk to your mom. I know you are younger and it must have been hard to have her leave you so soon. Thank you for reading  and  for  your kind words. "late"
