*Hey everyone. It's September and I'm remembering the poet's meet - so long ago now. So I thought I'd post two poems one from than and one just written.
We Aspired

We aspired
to build a bridge
across the waters
holding out the hand
of friendship
to those who had
touched our hearts.
Perhaps we had aimed too high
we did not know
yet we launched the cry into the wilderness
waiting for the
answering echo
of sibling minds

Across the waters came the response
we will come!
We will come!
and they did
in all their shapes
and sizes
bringing their dreams and hopes
to mingle with ours
to raise the voice of poetry
in sound and echo
that resounded around the world

The echoes fade soft in the autumn air
yet the bricks of friendship
cemented by this time together
will last forever

We aspired and in aspiring
we soared to the stars
and found a link of hands that
made the waters
redundant
to build a bridge
that will stand forever
and never be broken.

We aspired and we aspire still,
that the flame will be carried
from generation to generation
across the bridge of time

It's Been a While
It’s been so long since we came together.
How we laughed and gloried in the sun?
And at the time I dreamed it was forever -
oh, how I hoped the friendships would go on.

But distance is a place that makes the heartache
it cannot draw the present or  show care
and in the outer darkness lives the part ache
of things that we have lost, cause we were there.

A time of joining shouldn’t be disparaged
although the loss is greater in the end;
it was a time when joy met hope in marriage
we dared, then, to touch and teach a friend.

Remember Lyra - how we laughed together
I think we gave her one last time of joy
I’m sure she thought that she would live forever
and cancer wouldn’t all her cells destroy.

Remember how we laughed out loud when ‘deer fell
through the bed and to the floor beneath
and if he hurt himself  he silence kept, would not tell
and how we laughed again – just with relief.

I think of all the good times of the meeting
and of all the fun we had while there
although this time of poets was so fleeting
in September I remember and I share.

a good commitee can decimate communication.

I sure remember Keth, and wrote a poem about it too the other day. I never stopped thinking about it and on a shelf in my bedroom I've displayed all the little things I got from each poet as token of friendship and in my heart, this friendship lives forever.

I'm planning to go back next year September, if I stay healthy that is.

Thanks for these two beautiful poems dear friend.

Like scattered leaves...my words will flow

Beloved One, you know I shall never, ever forget the time we all spent together, it was and remains one of those golden times that wrap around a soul and comfort you when days seem too hard or run too fast. As always beloved you Write, and I well I am in awe. Truly beautiful, as are you beloved one.

Too fast time flows from year to year
Each one counted with love and tears
This soft remember of times gone by
Is penned with love, I know it I
That love and joy dressed in sweetest hue
Comes from your hand, a gift from you
And thus it is, I know not why
That September will never die
For it is held within the depth of me
And its light will glow through eternity

Time flows by in an endless stream
Melting away, as does each dream
And yet each golden moment is yours to keep
Treasured whenever those memories seep
Becoming rainbows which light your skies
Painting smiles within your eyes
Memories treasure spills gold in me
And here they live and shine eternally

Moments to be treasured, for sure! How wonderful it must have been for you all! I have to admit to being a tiny bit envious! lol

Perhaps next time, there will be a bigger circle of friends gathering together!
