LA REINA

She serves me imaginary
Cookies and tea
And loves to play dress-up
With her cousin Bree.
She plays school
And sings the rainbow song
So that everyone feels
Like singing along.
When she's excited
She interrupts
And tells me she
Never wants to grow up.
Whenever she's around
I become aware
Of a world
I had almost forgotten was there
And what a joy it was
Just to be alive
When I was like her
...A child of five.

Not sure I ever remember being 5... although teaching that age group is fun!

but it must have been nice and sometimes not wanting to grow up has its reasons.

Dear M,
I remember being 5 very well and when I was young I worked as a teacher's aide in a kindergarten class...so I've seen all the sides of 5. It's nice to meet a teacher since my whole life has revolved around school.
