It seems there's only
a fine thin thread
that tethers me to reality

today it broke

and my mind drifts on
feather boa clouds
I hear them calling me
but tell me why
why I should come back
why can't I stay here
...it feels safe here
...warm
...soft
...
no one can touch me
no one can force me
no one can make me...be
I don't want to be
there's no one here
  no one but me

but I can hear them
they keep calling
why won't they leave me alone
I like it here
I like the...nothingness

No one needs
      more than I can give
No one wants
      more than I can be
No one wants
      me

It's a fine thin thread
that tethers me to reality
with one too many knots
one too many knots
----@--@---@@---    -@@---@@@@
today the thread broke.

I thought I responded but it didn't post>

I felt this, Paula  and sometimes I like the "nothingness" too.

beautiful capture of the security of our favorite daydream. Sometimes you've got to break away.

And I'm sure you didn't mean it as such, but I found this to also be a brilliant metaphor for addiction from the addict's perspective.

Really enjoyed this.
