The deputies are lubricants
And we are merely cogs
Posting  our most fragile hearts
Onto aesthetic blogs
They are like the slippery skin
Of croaking poet frogs

Fortunate are we to have
This oil of which we speak
To smooth the rusty edges of
These wheels that grind and squeak
A smooth and velvet aloe lotion
Comforting the meek

It is the Vaseline of PIP
We hold in such esteem
The WD-40 marshals
Who defend the poet dream
The ones whose days are longer
Than our days will ever seem

I stop lighthearted reverie
And take a serious tone
For they’ve devoted hours and hours
To  verses of my own
And gave a more enriching gift
Than I have ever known

Dear moderators, take a bow
And take a little pause
For we are the recipients
Of Ron’s devoted cause
And you deserve no less than this
A loud sustained applause

And lots of thanks
And lots of love
And hugs
And more hugs

Thank you
Liz

Liz, might I join you in singing their praises?!?

They are tirelessly working behind the scenes keeping the pip ship afloat and the engines running smoothly. I, too, am much appreciative of their efforts.

This poem was a lovely gesture ~ and lovely in form.

PiP, PiP Hoooray!

Hugs to all!

To express our gratitude is important indeed and you did this in a very charming way.
I join you in praising the work of our deputy moderators.

Laughing and giggling over this...

WD-40....

I've been called MUCH worse!

You got a giggle, and laughter IS healthy!

I miss you, Lady Santos...
and this is one of the reasons why.

Nothing will EVER erase your wit!

Altho' I've not been able to stay with pip these days, I've always been charmed by your contributions.  Indeed, pip folk do oil the cogs of our souls.
I found the following in the "Sally Forth" comic strip yesterday.  In the series of panels supposedly forecasting the new TV season, the following promo is offered: "   Elizabeth Santos was the leading veterinarian for mythical beasts until the day she was diagnosed with dementia and her patients proved to be elaborate sock puppets."

Perhaps the author Francesco Marciuliano knows you?

I hope the above brings you a chuckle.  Ken

I'm glad you enjoyed it.  I couldn't belieive it when I saw your name. I wonder if the creator knows another whom he's spoofing.  I see any mythical beasts, I'll send them your way.  Ken

Thanks so much for this lighthearted, yet sincere work of appreciation.  It gives those of us who also greatly appreciate the constant work done by these dedicated deputies a chance to agree with you.

A fine tribute, Liz, from the queen of the site.

We may be the oil, but Toerag is the dipstick!
