Lumpy Oatmeal makes me Crazy!

Everyone still marvels over the beauty of the flowers this summer
Wild roses, in delicate paper shades of pink, peeked out among forest leaves
Their fragrance enticed all to stop and inhale
Breath in, breath out
And taste the scent of rose petals on your tongue

I asked what the purple flowers were that carpeted the roadsides
“Weeds,” someone sniffed in disdain, “probably invasive weeds.”
And I thought if those are invasive, I hope they found a welcoming home here.
Deep purples contrasted with shades of violet to cover acres of gravel

Yes, I hope they stay.

Dandelions, wild iris, fireweed in a brilliant spectrum of pink
Yellow dancing daisies in the sun, brown eyes inquisitive
The beauty of the flowers was indescribable
Yet, I try to paint them for you.

Summer ended and fall swept in, waving golden leaves in triumph
Ever so competitive and not to be outdone
Oh, no, fall never takes a place in the wings
And everyone speaks of the amazing beauty of this autumn

Have you ever seen one like it?

This fall is the most spectacular – the very most splendid
Forest floors plants carpet in reds and orange
Mixing together in disharmonious harmony
Clashing in competition to catch an eye, vying for all the attention

What a glorious transition from one time of incredible beauty to another
Each day looking as if it belongs on a jigsaw puzzle box
Displayed as the perfect photograph in 1,000 pieces

And every one still marvels over the beauty of the flowers this summer

a grand-fine lovely 'write'!

OH, you have made me see brilliant fireweed again! Fireweed, wild iris, wild rose and foreget-me-nots covered my Alaska yard.
Sigh, now....though I miss Alaska, I intend to enjoy the Appalachians in their fall blanket.

this was so beautifully done, yanno, I've been putting off getting our garden ready for winter....b/c the flowers are still so lovely, but perhaps next week, I'll start putting some flowers to bed for winter.

Loved this....

The difference between a weed and a flower is simply a judgment
and the perfect photograph is here Alison...
