She walked among the mortal men as Queen Of all that perfect beauty holds; unswayed By common glance; watched by all, yet unseen What hidden 'neath the regal veil was played. He loved and worshipped from afar; he dared Not stir the air with syllables of love Toward her softly flown; showed not the bared Beating heart filled with prayers from above... Oh, what spell be cast by a fleeting gaze - As gossamer threads of love drift about; Lost words will eddy in an unsaid phrase; A true love is caught on the edge of doubt: For how blind was he not to see the mask! Too late he found - she waited him to ask. CG |
