Moving on

Your love is a lighthouse beacon

Guiding me safely

Through the violent waves rolling

And thrashing in the sea of life.

A strong undercurrent attempts to drag me

Back to a place I no longer wish to be

The shore I left from now far away in the distance

Guide me through the rocks that continue to graze my heart

Love’s past hurts like open sores on my body

Feel every jag of the rocks

Until your light guides me to a safe passage

Then I’m able to rest on the soft sand

Basking in your glow

As my wounds heal.

This is the first poem I have ever written. It was written after making a decision on a path my life should take. Sadly I walked the path for a while but have since returned to the place i came from. That too was my choice for  many appropriate reasons.

"This is the first poem I have ever written."

~ Well, you certainly could have fooled me! In all sincerity, that was downright 'poetical'!

As Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz said, "There's no place like home! There's no place like home!"

Be well! Be happy!

Giving you a warm, welcoming hug,

Thank you all for your encouraging words. Im so much more motivated to begin expressing myself in poetry.I have always loved reading poetrybut  I was hesitant to construct my own , feeling I had no skill but now im eager to try.
