dark street is not the same anymore
since the gold has gone east
with the china people

I remember the board music
when bootery blues would wrinkle
and a heavy hip here and there

was the only sanity not salted
with a knuckle full of red eye
and a tooth bite of the poppy

I am the only ranger there now
24 on and 24 off and 24 seven
most every other yesterday included

and I still carry a photo of the sun
lest I forget her smile sides
and become accustomed to her backside

since she became an autumn evening

ahhh..I have missed reading you dark daddy...always, I am left with a smile.
