I stand at the gate waiting for the tour guide I want to show him my childhood trees tresses dreams and magpies thumbquakes henchmen visit with me take this trip memory of your making you got me in the heart lucid fire below the smoke lines between dirt and lace split from brown bark blood in spread of knots root to tip leaf veins trees, trees, oh the trees tender shoots grow slow green curl around a dream lie die hard breathless death you got me in the soul roots turn downward crying to rich earth I beg you give me this moment sharing secrets buried for growth unnoticed in silence only grows down I am the tourist of my life waiting for the tour guide to permit me entry |
