Nigh be the soulful morn that waits to cry
that sulks before the moon is laid to rest.
That crawls in wait of dark when ravens fly
and join the croak at water’s leafy crest

For whence the somber shadows slumber breaks
and snatches light of day ‘fore darkness falls
To hear the loon’s heart bleed and sorely ache
and hush the cries of calves in lonesome stalls.

Is then upon the cease of beggars bray
and then upon the seizure of night’s thief
As lofts shall hide the farmer’s new shorn hay
and cows shall lie the field in wait the sheaf.

Oh, Barry, you set the tone and mood so well with the following:

~ "To hear the loon’s heart bleed and sorely ache
and hush the cries of calves in lonesome stalls."

You must be the "poet" in poetry!

Warm hug,
Linda

The scent of morning dew pervades.
Nicely done.
